German breeding variety, bred in 1788 by breeder C.H. Buttnera from Halle. Name in England Halls Giant, in Czech Republic Hallska obrovska, in France Geant de Halle, in Germany Hallesche Riesen Zellernuss. Strongly growing variety. Forms tall trees with a spreading not very thickened crown. Trees reach 5.5 m in height. When ripe, the nut easily falls out of the inflorescence. The fruits are large (height up to 28 mm, width up to 25 mm). Forms inflorescences on 2-4 nuts. Medium thickness shell. The nucleus is large, well filled. The nut ripens late enough. Usually in late September to early October. It is not recommended to collect earlier because the nut loses its taste.
